Gujranwala police caught a serial killer linked to four brutal murders, including those of children. On February 10, two bodies, a 32-year-old woman and her 5-year-old son, were found near the Citi Housing Society canal. Gujranwala CPO Dr. Ghias Gul confirmed both were killed with a sharp weapon. They were identified as Malaika and her son Muhammad Ahmed. The woman’s eight-month-old daughter, Mubara, was also killed by asphyxiation. The suspect Haroon Javed, arrested while trying to flee to Karachi by train, confessed to these killings and to throwing Mubara’s body in the canal. He admitted killing the family to steal the woman’s gold earrings. Haroon is from Alam Chowk, the same neighborhood as the victims. He also confessed to murdering 13-year-old Rehan Ali from Mado Khalil area on December 20. Rehan was kidnapped and killed to steal a bridal dress he was delivering. Rehan’s father had reported his kidnapping earlier. A special police team led by SP Imran Khan and DSP Hameed Virk used modern technology to catch Haroon.
