Saudi Arabia Launches Digital Service to End Domestic Worker Contracts Legally
February 17, 2026
Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has launched the Work Interruption Service on the national platform Musaned. This new digital tool lets employers legally end domestic worker contracts when workers stop reporting to work. Earlier, employers faced delays and unclear rules. Now, employers can file a termination request online, making the process faster and transparent. Workers have 60 days to either transfer to another employer or leave Saudi Arabia. If a worker has been in the Kingdom for less than two years, they must exit within 60 days after contract termination. If more than two years, workers can choose to find another employer or get a final exit visa. This service gives workers legal protection and clear rights while helping employers manage contracts effectively. It is part of wider labour reforms to improve contract clarity and digital governance in Saudi Arabia. Musaned now handles recruitment, visas, and contract termination for domestic workers. The service aims to end confusion caused by past informal rules and support structured labour relations. This digital update also continues Saudi Arabia's push to modernize labour policy and protect both workers and employers. The Work Interruption Service marks an important step towards transparent and fair domestic employment practices in the Kingdom.
