Karachi: A fire started Tuesday at a chemical factory in Karachi’s SITE area, near Valika Chowrangi, Rescue 1122 confirmed. "A fire brigade truck, along with rescue teams, was immediately dispatched to the site of the incident, as soon as the Rescue 1122 received report of the incident," said the spokesperson. Sindh Rangers personnel also joined rescue efforts. Their spokesperson said, "Rangers personnel are actively participating in the relief activities and rescue operation along with the fire brigade and rescue personnel." Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab took notice and posted on X, "KMC fire team is attending to the fire incident reported at a factory in SITE Industrial Area. Will keep everyone posted." Earlier, Mayor Wahab had "directed all departments of the KMC to stay alert" and ordered the use of all available resources for rescue. He stated, "There will be no compromise made on the safety of human lives." Water board authorities were instructed to take emergency measures to help control the fire. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed the Mayor and the commissioner to supervise the rescue operations and investigate the fire’s cause. This incident follows a large fire near the University of Karachi the previous day, which was later brought under control.
