On Lunar New Year’s first day, Hong Kong buzzed with visitors and locals alike. Crowds poured into the airport and the West Kowloon high-speed rail terminal. Many travelers said they came to enjoy the city’s festive feel, delicious food, and mild weather. Visitor Ruby Luo said, "I always come to Hong Kong with my husband, so this time I brought the whole family to spend the holiday here and show them around for the first time." The Immigration Department reported that from February 13 to 16, more than 1.7 million residents left Hong Kong, up from 1.47 million during the same period last year. Among them, about 320,000 departed on Monday alone. Over the same days, 663,139 tourists arrived in the city, with more than 530,000 coming from mainland China. Total visitors rose 5% compared to 2025, and mainland arrivals increased 7.1% from 498,967. On Lunar New Year’s Eve, Hong Kong welcomed 111,757 visitors, including over 84,000 from the mainland. Tuesday morning saw West Kowloon station filled with travellers in bright, colorful clothes, many arriving in large groups to soak in the festive atmosphere.
