Bomb Threat Emails Target Six Gujarat Courts; No Explosives Found

Six courts in Gujarat including Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Valsad, Rajkot, Gandhinagar, and Mehsana received bomb threat emails on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Authorities carried out thorough searches but found no suspicious items. An email to Vadodara district court claimed 19 bombs were planted, threatening to explode by lunchtime. "The mail threatened to bomb the court premises by lunchtime. The sender criticised a Tamil Nadu court's judgment in the mail," said DCP, Zone 2, Manjita Vanzara. The Vadodara SOG, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), Dog Squad, local police, and cyber experts responded promptly and cordoned off the area. Similar searches were done in Valsad, where 19 courtrooms were evacuated after an email warned that 19 IEDs would blast before afternoon namaz, said Valsad SP Yuvrajsinh Jadeja. "Nothing suspicious was found during the search," he confirmed. The district courts in Rajkot, Gandhinagar, and Ahmedabad were also evacuated in the morning, but no threats were confirmed. In the afternoon, Mehsana district court received a bomb threat email and was evacuated. Mehsana SP Himanshu Solanki stated, "Nothing suspicious has been found yet." On the previous day, Monday, February 16, 34 schools in Ahmedabad and Vadodara received bomb threat emails. These turned out to be hoaxes, with no explosives found at any school. Authorities continue to investigate the source of the threats to ensure public safety.
