Construction work on the Vaduthala-Perandoor bridge has officially started, confirmed MLA T.J. Vinod. The project had been delayed for some time but picked up pace once the government approved the revised plan. The project is now estimated to cost ₹34.24 crore. Mr. Vinod said that the tender process is complete and technical sanctions have been received. About ₹10 crore of the total is allocated for land acquisition and moving utilities. Around 55 cents of land were acquired in Vaduthala, and 34 cents in Perandoor for the bridge. The project has all legal permissions, including those under coastal regulation zone norms. Piling work has already begun on the Perandoor side. Mr. Vinod highlighted that once finished, the bridge will help ease traffic congestion toward the city. He also mentioned that provisional sanction of 20% has been obtained for a ₹5 crore proposal to link the approach road at Vaduthala with Chinmaya Road and to carry out related construction works.
