Indian Army Unveils Indigenous AI Tools to Boost Defence and Disaster Management

The Indian Army unveiled a range of indigenous Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions on February 17, 2026, at the India AI Summit. This showcases its shift towards a data-driven and AI-enabled force that supports India’s goal of technological self-reliance. Displayed at Bharat Mandapam, the AI systems serve both defence and civilian purposes such as disaster management, cybersecurity, and governance. Key technologies included AI Examiner, which automates education assessment and feedback to modernize training. SAM-UN is a geospatial and AI-powered system for situational awareness, aiding mission planning and disaster response. EKAM is a secure AI cloud platform designed to protect sensitive data and ensure data sovereignty. The PRAKSHEPAN system uses AI to predict landslides, floods, and avalanches early. Security technologies featured XFace, an AI facial recognition tool for identity verification, along with Deepfake Detection and AI Cyber Security Systems to fight cyber threats and fake media. Other innovations include Nabh Drishti for real-time reporting, a Driver Fatigue Detection device, portable AI-in-a-Box units for use in remote areas, and an AI-powered Vehicle Tracking System for fleet management. The Indian Army emphasized these indigenous tools strengthen operational readiness and serve multiple uses, boosting defence preparedness and national resilience.
