A viral social media post showing a colorful Ganesh Chaturthi procession in Dallas has caused a fresh uproar about immigration and H1B visas. The video, shared by X user @CyberGreen09, shows people in traditional Indian clothes playing dhol and tasha drums in a shopping centre parking lot. The caption reads: “Dallas is being transformed into ‘Dallaspuram’ before our eyes.” It adds: “H1B visas are being used to import Indians for basic jobs Texans can do. These guys aren’t top global talent, it’s industrial fraud destroying our great state. Time to put Texans first and end the H1B program!” However, this clip is not new. It was filmed in August 2025 during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations outside India Bazaar in Lewisville, a northern Dallas suburb with a big Indian community. The same footage went viral last year. Hindu Americans call it a joyful cultural event, while some MAGA supporters say it causes disruptions. The video has reignited online debates about immigration and the H1B visa program, which is already under scrutiny. Far-right commentator Andrew Branca reposted it, adding: "W**, America. Was this what our Founders envisioned?" The Dallas Fort Worth metro area includes more than 250,000 Indian Americans, many living in suburbs like Frisco, Plano, and Lewisville. These places are now major tech and business hubs. In 2024, about 71% of approved H1B visas went to Indian nationals. Many US employers say skilled migration via H1B visas has boosted the local economy and strengthened key sectors such as tech and defence. However, 'America First' supporters argue the system steals jobs from American workers by favoring Indians and Chinese workers who accept lower pay. Similar concerns were voiced recently at a Frisco city council meeting, where some residents expressed fears of an “Indian takeover” in the area.
