In Mahabubabad town, a 40-year-old man named Kunta Anjaiah set a 28-year-old woman on fire after she refused to marry him. The woman, V. Sandhya, who sells vegetables near his milk shop, had been in a relationship with Anjaiah for three years. The man, a widower with three children, suspected her of seeing someone else and demanded marriage. On February 17, 2026, around 1:30 p.m., Anjaiah went to Sandhya's home in Pragathi Nagar Colony and poured fire on her. He also hugged her, causing both to suffer severe burns. They were taken first to Mahabubabad Government Hospital, then to a state hospital in Warangal. Both have about 70% burn injuries and are in critical condition. Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
