Global Politicians Extend Warm Wishes as Ramazan Moon Is Sighted Worldwide

The Ramazan moon was spotted on Tuesday night in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the USA, and other countries, kicking off the holy month. Politicians and parliamentarians from various nations quickly sent their greetings to Muslims observing this sacred time.
Pakistan's Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) said the first day of Ramazan is "likely to fall" on February 19, Thursday. The official announcement will come from Pakistan's Ruet-i-Hilal Committee.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney posted on his official X account, "a blessed and peaceful month of reflection and prayer" for Muslims in Canada and worldwide. Ontario Premier Doug Ford added, "I extend my best wishes to Muslim communities across Ontario who are observing this sacred month of prayer, reflection and togetherness."
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese shared on X, "The sacred weeks of Ramadan are a chance for Muslims to reaffirm their faith, to reflect, to forgive and to practice acts of love and kindness." He highlighted Ramadan as a symbol of compassion and unity for Australian Muslims.
The UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer wished "Muslim communities in the UK and across the world a peaceful and blessed holy month." London Mayor Sadiq Khan said, "Our capital shines bright as a beacon of hope and diversity. From my family to yours: Ramadan Mubarak."
In the US, while President Donald Trump has not yet issued a statement, many leaders have sent greetings. The Democratic Party wished "a reflective and peaceful Ramadan," and House Democrats wished "peace, reflection and blessings." Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, "May this holy month bring peace, wisdom, and blessings through the reflection and spiritual renewal that make Ramadan so meaningful."
New York’s mayor Zohran Mamdani simply posted "Ramadan Mubarak" with a video of iftar foods. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg sent "warm wishes for peace and joy," while Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib sent "love," acknowledging this is the third Ramazan during ongoing violence in Gaza.
Other US representatives like Jim McGovern and Sarah McBride also extended heartfelt wishes for a blessed, peaceful, and reflective Ramazan to Muslims locally and worldwide.
The global political unity in sending Ramazan wishes shows respect and acknowledgement of the holy month’s significance across cultures and borders.
