TTD’s QR Code Footwear System Transforms Tirumala Temple Experience
February 18, 2026
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has launched a smart QR code footwear tracking system that is changing the experience for temple visitors. From September 2025 to February 15, 2026, the system handled 8,45,816 footwear deposit and retrieval transactions. Out of 4,24,047 pairs collected, 4,21,769 were safely returned, showing excellent reliability.
The busiest was the PAC-5 centre, managing 1,38,270 deposits and returning 1,37,904 pairs. The system showed strength during the peak rush from February 1 to 15 with 1,35,314 transactions recorded in just 15 days.
TTD Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary led the initiative to tackle problems with lost footwear and crowded spaces. Supported by Coromandel International Limited and supervised by Deputy Executive Officer Somanarayana, the system has improved transparency and cut confusion.
Devotees have welcomed this innovation, saying lost footwear and chaos have dropped sharply. Given the success, TTD plans to add more counters at Kalyanakatta, Bedi Anjaneyaswamy temple, and ATC Circle.
With a footwear ban on four ‘mada’ streets around the temple, this QR code system helps enforce rules and keeps Tirumala cleaner and safer.
