Around 500 people attended the All India BSNL Pensioners’ Welfare Association (AIBSNLPWA) circle conference in Vijayawada on February 18. Leaders discussed pensioners’ welfare and legal updates. National president D. Gopala Krishnan said the last pension revision was in 2007. The next revision has been due since January 1, 2017. He referred to a September 2023 judgment by the Principal Bench, Central Administrative Tribunal, Delhi. The judgment says pension revision should match Central government employees. "Pension revision should be implemented from January 1, 2017," said Mr. Gopala Krishnan. General secretary V. Vara Prasad pointed out that pension revision is not included in the 8th Central Pay Commission (8th CPC) Terms of Reference. He warned that without clarity on the date, pensioners retiring before 2026 could suffer losses. The conference members urged the government to amend the 8th CPC Terms of Reference. They want pension revision included for former pensioners and a clear start date of January 1, 2026.
