About 2,500 students from 10 government and aided schools in north Chennai completed two projects on energy management and foldable house design. They received certificates from School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi on Wednesday. The first project involved using data analysis to map energy use at schools and homes and creating plans to reduce waste. This used real applications of Data Science and AI. The second project had students build working models of foldable houses, using physics and engineering. These houses can be quickly set up for low-income and disaster-hit areas. Experts from IIT Madras, Illinois Institute of Technology, KREA University, and industry mentored the students. This was part of a CSR effort by Kamarajar Port and the Rhapsody Music Foundation. Anil Srinivasan, founder of Rhapsody Music Foundation, said, "The students were already thinking differently, asking questions, making decisions with data and building things with their hands." The programme will continue till 2026 with more projects and a final showcase event, said a press release.
