The West Godavari District Collector Chadalavada Nagarani announced that more than 5,300 acres of land will be excluded from Kolleru Lake in the district. This land is located in 10 villages of Akiveedu mandal. She shared this update during an online meeting chaired by Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad on Wednesday. Nearly 20,000 acres of land in the old West Godavari district are being excluded from the lake as part of efforts to downsize Kolleru Lake. After the land is officially removed from the lake's area, it will be given back to the local communities. The meeting was also attended by West Godavari Joint Collector T. Rahul Kumar Reddy and other officials.
