Get ready for some bright news from Gujarat! Dhordo village in Kutch district, already famous as the ‘Best Tourism Village’ by the UN, is now all lit up with solar power. Thanks to the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, every home here has a solar rooftop, making Dhordo the fourth village in Gujarat to turn 100% solar after Modhera, Sukhi, and Masali. The magic number? 81 homes with solar rooftops producing a whopping 177 kilowatts of electricity. That adds up to nearly 2.95 lakh units every year! This powerful punch is not just cutting bills but also filling villagers' pockets. Each household is expected to save about ₹16,064 annually, and guess what? The extra energy fed back to the grid brings even more income. An official release from the Gujarat government reveals that Dhordo stands to gain over ₹13 lakh every year from these combined savings and earnings. Imagine the smiles on the villagers’ faces! Miyan Hussain, the village sarpanch, happily shares, “With solar rooftops now installed in every home, electricity bills will be greatly reduced, providing significant relief to the villagers. Supported by government subsidies and bank loans, the villagers have incurred minimal expenses, and this initiative has brought immense joy to our community.” But the excitement doesn’t stop there. PM Narendra Modi plans to dedicate Dhordo as a “Solar Village” during his visit to Gujarat on Saturday. He's also set to inspect the spectacular National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal, Ahmedabad. This Rs 4500 crore marvel will celebrate India’s rich maritime history, featuring the world’s tallest lighthouse museum—standing tall at 77 meters! Visitors can enjoy a panoramic view from an open gallery at 65 meters and a dazzling nighttime light show. The NMHC promises a splash of fun with a floating restaurant, a 100-room tent city resort, e-car rides inside the complex, and parking space for 500 electric vehicles. A 66 kV substation is already humming in action, powering this grand mix of history, education, and entertainment. So, Gujarat strides ahead with shining solar dreams and a maritime legacy like no other. Dhordo’s solar rooftops are not just a boon for the environment but a bright beacon of hope and prosperity for its people.
