Why India Ended Conflict with Pakistan Early After Operation Sindoor: Insights from IAF Chief AP Singh

Get ready for the inside story on Operation Sindoor! In May this year, after the tragic Pahalgam terrorist attack that took 26 lives, India launched fierce strikes targeting terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. This bold move sparked a quick but intense battle with Pakistan, with drones and missiles flying for four days! But guess what? Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, the Chief of the Air Staff, revealed on Thursday why India chose to stop the fight early. “We met our main objective — anti-terrorism,” he said. Many wanted India to keep hitting Pakistan, but Singh waved the green flag for peace after the job was done. He pointed out how endless wars like those in Russia-Ukraine and Israel drag on for years without clear goals. India didn’t want to be stuck in that trap! “The main wars … are going on, years have passed, because no one is thinking about conflict termination...We heard that people said that no, we should have done a little more. We stopped the war very quickly. Yes, they were on the back foot, no doubt, but what were our objectives?” Singh asked. His answer? “Our objective was anti-terrorism. We had to strike them. We had done that.” The IAF chief also warned about the heavy price of ongoing conflict. It can hurt a country's economy, lower military readiness, and stall development. India, he said, showed the world how to begin and end a fight smartly — without letting egos get in the way. Echoing this, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan said the Indian strike was carefully planned between 1 and 1:30 am on May 7 to avoid harming civilians. India keeps stressing that Operation Sindoor’s strikes are paused, not over. The armed forces are ready to act swiftly if Pakistan tries any mischief again. Until then, the message is clear — fight smart, fight for a purpose, and stop on time.
