Four Undertrial Prisoners Attack Police Naik Inside Van at Kalyan Sessions Court

September 27, 2025

KALYAN: The quiet routine of court transport turned into chaos recently at the Kalyan sessions court. Four undertrial prisoners, all from Ulhasnagar—Akash Valmiki, Ganesh Moretiya, Yoginder Moretiya, and Vivek Yadav—unleashed their fury on police naik Kishor Petre inside a police van. These men, facing multiple criminal cases, were heading back to Aadharwadi jail after their court hearings. The trouble began when naik Kishor asked the group to move aside to make room for other undertrial prisoners. This simple request hit a rough patch as the men started hurling abuses at him. Not stopping there, the four grabbed naik Kishor by his collar and assaulted him inside the cramped van. The violence escalated when one accused threw a water bottle and a food packet at the naik’s face, while another struck him near the ear. Despite repeated attempts by police officers to calm the heated situation, the undertrial prisoners refused to cooperate. Kalyan ACP Kalyanji Ghete confirmed the case has now taken a serious turn. "An FIR has been filed against the four for the attack," he stated firmly. This incident not only shows the risks police personnel face during daily duties but also highlights the challenges in handling undertrial prisoners with tough criminal backgrounds. While naik Kishor Petre suffered minor injuries, his courage and the swift action of other police officers prevented things from getting worse.
