October 27, 2025

Get ready for a sea change! Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the state has inked 15 exciting agreements worth a whopping Rs 56,000 crore for maritime projects. These deals promise to boost port facilities, develop shipyards, and bring new technology into the mix. Signed during the India Maritime Week, these MoUs cover a broad range of plans without a set timeline. But no doubt, the goal is big – making Maharashtra the maritime superpower of India! Fadnavis revealed some hot details: The Adani Group will expand the Dighi port and build a huge industrial area near it in partnership with the central government. Meanwhile, the JSW Group will enhance its Jaigad port facility. These upgrades along the 700-km coastline aim to plug Maharashtra into global supply chains smoothly. There’s more fun on the water! A brand-new 'water taxi' service will connect the recently opened Navi Mumbai airport (run by Adani Group) straight to the iconic Gateway of India in South Mumbai. This is a first in India, making travel quicker and more scenic for visitors and locals alike. Also in the pipeline is a state-of-the-art marina in Mumbai to boost water transport and water sports. Maharashtra is pushing innovation too, with MoUs focusing on technology, human resource development, and centers of excellence in the maritime sector. Fadnavis summed it up with inspiring words: "I'd like to assure that we will work closely with the central government and create the best ecosystem in the entire maritime business. Your journey will be seamless. We understand that we will succeed only if you succeed." With these blockbuster deals and bold dreams, Maharashtra is charting an exhilarating course on the maritime map of India!
