JABALPUR: In a chilling daylight attack that shocked an entire town, 22-year-old Ritu Bhandarkar was brutally murdered right in the heart of Baihar town, Madhya Pradesh. The young woman, working as an attendant at a furniture shop, was heading to work on Tuesday morning when danger struck!
Near Aamgaon Fata in Samanapur Chowk, the accused, 25-year-old Rohan Sarve, suddenly jumped on her and slit her throat with a sharp weapon, police reports say. What happened next left everyone stunned – instead of rushing to help, the huge crowd that gathered started filming the horror on their cellphones. Videos show Sarve repeatedly slashing Ritu’s throat as people watch silently.
Police acted fast and arrested Sarve soon after the brutal murder. “Prima facie, it has surfaced that the deceased and the accused had studied together and knew each other. The girl had recently refused to marry the accused, which may have triggered the crime. The accused is being questioned,” said Baihar SDPO Karandeep Singh.
The murder has sent shockwaves across the town, filling the hearts of locals with fear. People are angry and demanding strict actions for better women’s safety. To keep peace, extra police forces have been deployed, and the situation in Baihar is said to be under control.
This awful daylight crime is a harsh reminder of the growing dangers women face and the urgent need for change.
