November 19, 2025
In a thrilling police chase, the Delhi police solved a massive burglary case involving over ₹42 lakh stolen from a mobile wholesale shop in Karol Bagh. The secret weapon? Facial Recognition Technology (FRT)!
Suraj, 23, from Mukundpur in north-west Delhi, and an employee at the shop, was caught red-handed on November 14. He faces charges of burglary, theft, and house-breaking. Police also recovered ₹13.5 lakh from his possession.
But what's a gang without its members? The other suspects - Rishabh, Avinash, Abhishek, and Anil - all from Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, are still on the loose.
The crime came to light on November 5, when shop employees found that over ₹42 lakh was missing, and the rear window was shattered. This was the entry point for the thieves!
Thanks to CCTV footage, police saw four men sneaking in at around 2:15 a.m. on that day. The footage, combined with Facial Recognition Technology, helped pin down the accused. Even more revealing, phone records showed Suraj and one other suspect had several calls with each other.
The officer revealed, "Suraj confessed that he was aware of the cash kept inside the shop and shared the information with his associates, who stole it."
The hunt is still on for the remaining suspects, but with this tech-savvy approach, Delhi police are making crime-fighting look like a Bollywood thriller!
