Residents of Bengaluru's Holiday Village Road to Protest Against Poor Road Conditions

May 26, 2025

Residents of Holiday Village Road in Mallasandra, Bengaluru, are fed up with the deteriorating road conditions and lack of action from authorities. The road has been in a dire state for the past three years, with ongoing construction exacerbating the situation. Despite promises from officials and elected representatives, including assurances from the chief minister and deputy CM, residents have seen no tangible improvements. The contractor responsible for the repairs has been unresponsive, leading to worsening conditions, especially during the rainy season. Delivery agents and residents have reported accidents due to the slippery and pothole-ridden roads. Last year, two school buses had to be rescued from the muck, highlighting the urgency of the situation. Local MLA ST Somashekar mentioned that white-topping was approved six months ago but faced delays due to the contractor's inefficiency, resulting in penalties. He assured residents that once the work commences after the rainy season, the road can be fixed within 15 days. However, with schools set to reopen soon and no alternative routes available, residents feel compelled to protest for their safety and essential civic infrastructure.
