Thrissur-Ernakulam Train Services Hit Hard by Diesel Locomotive Snag at Kalamassery, Hours of Delay!
November 28, 2025
Train chaos hit the busy Thrissur-Ernakulam route on Friday afternoon, November 28, 2025. How? A diesel shunting locomotive developed a stubborn technical problem. Its wheel locked right on the points and crossing zone during freight wagon shunting at Kalamassery yard. This unexpected hiccup brought the train movement to a sudden halt!
Railway insiders revealed the drama that followed. "As a precautionary safety measure," they said, the nearby main line was temporarily stopped. Imagine the traffic jam! To keep the trains moving safely, the railway switched to single-line working, running trains one by one on just one line. This slow and steady approach needed extra time and caused delays during the busy afternoon hours.
After a tense wait, restoration teams fixed the snag and checked track and operational safety carefully. By 5:45 p.m., both main lines were declared safe. Normal services resumed in stages by 6:23 p.m., announced the Railways in a crisp statement.
Special focus was on long-distance trains like the star of the show - Vande Bharat! It and others including the Ernad Express, Guruvayur-Ernakulam passenger, and Thiruvananthapuram-Indore weekly train faced delays topping an hour. Passengers had to wait, but safety took the center stage.
So, the lesson from this railway tale? Even a tiny technical snag in a locomotive can send train traffic into a tailspin on a busy route. But, thanks to quick action and safety protocols, all tracks opened again and trains rolled back on the rails!
