Thiruvananthapuram Shuts Traffic Tight for Indian Navy Day with President Droupadi Murmu's Arrival
November 28, 2025
Thiruvananthapuram is gearing up for a big day! On December 3, the Indian Navy Day operational demonstration at Shanghumughom will light up the city. With President Droupadi Murmu arriving, the city will be under a strong security cover. District Police Chief Thomson Jose revealed, “Nearly 3,000 police personnel will guard the State capital” for this grand event.
The show starts at 4:30 p.m., but traffic restrictions hit the roads from 12 p.m. onward! Plus, rehearsals starting the evening of December 1 will also bring traffic control. Only vehicles with valid entry passes can enter Shanghumughom via special routes like Chakka, Vallakkadavu, Kulathoor, Kumarapuram, and Madhavapuram. They will be checked and allowed inside based on parking availability.
Special invitees and media vehicles must reach the Chakka-All Saints route an hour before the event. They get VIP treatment with escorts to specific parking zones.
For those without passes, don’t worry — the city has set up special parking spots at cool places like Greenfield Stadium, Karyavattom University College ground, MG College ground, Poojappura Ground, Jimmy George Indoor Stadium, and even Lulu Mall parking! Parking anywhere else will lead to your vehicle getting towed and legal trouble, warns Mr. Jose.
To make life easier, KSRTC is running shuttle buses from all parking areas to Vettucaud and Shanghumughom starting 1 p.m. Tickets cost a small fixed fee, and return trips will be ready to bring everyone back after the show.
For travelers bound for the airports, listen up! Use alternative routes via Vellayambalam, Chakka flyover, Enchakkal, and Vallakkadavu. If you are headed to the international airport, follow the Chakka - Ananthapuri Hospital path and keep your flight ticket handy because the police will check it.
So, get ready for an exciting day with tight traffic, strong security, and thrilling Navy action—all set in lovely Thiruvananthapuram!
