Vellore Farmer Busted: 6-Foot Ganja Plants Hidden in Banana Farm, Arrested!
November 29, 2025
In a shocking twist from Modikuppam village near Gudiyatham town in Vellore, a 62-year-old farmer named B. Kannaiyan was caught red-handed while growing tall ganja plants! Police received a tip-off and took swift action under Vellore SP A. Mayilvaganan's guidance. When police raided the farmland on Friday, they discovered ganja plants reaching up to six feet tall hidden cleverly in the middle of a banana plantation. Kannaiyan, perhaps hoping to fool everyone, thought growing ganja amidst bananas would go unnoticed by neighbors and cops alike. But his plan failed. When questioned, Kannaiyan admitted he had been growing the plants for months and claimed, "I had been using the ganja leaves in my food as they have medicinal qualities." He also confessed giving fresh ganja leaves to friends without charging them a penny. Shockingly, Kannaiyan said, "I was not aware that growing ganja in the farmland was an offence," and stressed he never sold any leaves. The Gudiyatham Taluk police have registered a case against him and arrested Kannaiyan. After being produced before a local court in Vellore, he was sent to judicial custody. The police continue investigating the matter, aiming to uncover more details about the ganja cultivation and distribution. Could this case open a bigger window on how ganja usage is creeping quietly into farms? Stay tuned for updates as this spicy story unfolds!
