Goa will elect new Zilla Panchayats on December 20, 2025. The State Election Commission of India announced polls in 50 constituencies in North and South Goa. About 8.68 lakh voters can cast their vote. The Model Code of Conduct took immediate effect. The Commission updated electoral rolls and finalized reserved seats. There are nine seats for women and seven for OBCs in North Goa. South Goa reserved ten seats for women and six for OBCs. Polling will take place in 1,284 booths: 658 in North Goa and 626 in South Goa. Voting will be by ballot. Voter numbers include 420,431 men and 448,201 women. Candidates must file nominations between December 1 and 9. Scrutiny of nominations will be on December 10. Votes will be counted on December 22. These elections are important for upcoming Goa Assembly elections in 2027. In 2022, BJP won 20 Assembly seats. The Congress won 11, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party two, and Aam Aadmi Party two. Other seats were won by independents and others. On November 28, the Goa Congress held training in Panjim on Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The party aims to protect voting rights and fight vote tampering. Congress President Amit Spatkar said, "The Congress Party stands unwavering in its mission to protect every Goan's fundamental right to vote and we will resist every single attempt of #VoteChori in Goa, no matter who tries it."
