The elite Kasu Brahmananda Reddy (KBR) park, located in Banjara Hills, faces heavy traffic problems around its 8.5 km outer periphery. Large cars like Mercedes Benz S Class (5.46m long), Scorpio (4.5m), and BMW 7 Series (5.4m) often park along this stretch, causing congestion. To help, an automated car park for 72 vehicles has been introduced. B. Sai Prakash Goud, the Banjara Hills Traffic Inspector, said, “Those visiting KBR park will be using this facility. Right now, they are parking on the road, specially in the morning till about 8-9 a.m., now they will have a space to park and the road will be free — this way congestion will ease up in the morning time.” The residential and commercial zones around KBR park have grown rapidly. Offices, cafes, and restaurants have sprung up from Yousufguda to Film Nagar and Jubilee Hills, turning calm areas into busy hubs. This unplanned growth has led to traffic problems. Aasheesh Pittie, author and nature-watcher, said, “In my opinion, the car park will not help. The parked cars are an issue in the evening traffic. In the morning, by 10 a.m., the road is clear of parked cars.” He also criticized a bright billboard near the park: “More than anything else, the towering billboard matches the brightness of a setting sun from Road no 14 and it blinds the motorists in the evening.” Despite these concerns, many locals cherish the park’s natural beauty. A Class IV teacher from Khushbow Vidya Niketan said, “My class has a tradition of going to the park at the end of the month. We play games, try to find peacocks, listen to bird calls. It’s so lovely to be able to do that, since our school is very close by. My children look forward to it every month, and even count down the days for the visit.” Thus, while solutions to traffic are being tried, the community hopes KBR park remains a peaceful green space.
