Tiger Sighting Reported at BEML Campus Mysuru; Forest Dept Sets Camera Traps
November 29, 2025
There are complaints about a tiger on the BEML campus in Mysuru. The Forest Department has installed camera traps to check if the tiger is really there. Senior Forest Department officials said BEML authorities reported seeing a tiger on Saturday. This led the department to start monitoring the area. Paramesh, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Mysuru Wildlife, said four pairs of cameras were set up at key spots on the large BEML campus. "Once confirmed, other measures, including setting cages with bait to lure the tiger, would be taken," he added. Meanwhile, a video showing a tiger walking on a well-paved road with high walls, said to be inside the BEML complex, has gone viral on social media. But Paramesh said the staff has not yet confirmed if the video is genuine. Leopard sightings near Mysuru’s industrial areas are common. Recently, leopards were seen near Infosys and RBI press. The BEML campus itself has had several leopard sightings and captures. Tigers were spotted in the Nanjangud industrial area in December 2023. Tiger sightings in Mysuru district are now more frequent, even near human habitats. On Thursday, a tiger was trapped in Hunsur after villagers complained. Combing and monitoring operations continue in H.D. Kote, where villagers have raised concerns about repeated cattle kills believed to be caused by big cats. The Forest Department remains on alert as they study the situation closely.
