Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Friday approved Land Pooling Scheme (LPS 2.0) to acquire 16,666 acres of land from seven villages and 3,828 acres of government land. This land will support big infrastructure projects in Amaravati. The plans include an International Sports City, a new railway station, a railway track, and the Inner Ring Road (IRR).
For the first time, Amaravati’s area will spread into Palnadu district. Four villages in Amaravati mandal of Palnadu—Vykuntapuram, Pedamadduru, Endroyi, and Karlapudi—will provide 7,562 acres. Meanwhile, Vaddamanu, Harischandrapuram, and Pedaparimi in Thullur mandal of Guntur district will give 9,104.57 acres.
The government also plans to acquire more land for other projects like a greenfield airport and smart industries.
Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana assured that farmers joining this new round will get compensation equal to the first phase. "Those contributing Jareebu (wet) lands will be allotted 1,000 sq. yd residential and 450 sq. yd commercial plots. Dry land contributors will get 1,000 sq. yd residential and 250 sq. yd commercial plots," he said. Lease payments will stay the same.
Minister Narayana added that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu approved a bigger plan for the International Sports City, expanding it to 2,500 acres from the earlier 70 acres. This will help host global sports events.
He said, "The expanded infrastructure push is expected to accelerate economic growth and strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s financial outlook."
