HR&CE Minister P.K. Sekarbabu Reviews ₹46.5 Cr Polytechnic Construction and Monsoon Prep in Chennai

HR&CE Minister and CMDA Chairman P.K. Sekarbabu on Saturday inspected the ongoing construction at Thiruvottiyur Government Polytechnic College and Government Industrial Training Institute. The project, costing ₹46.50 crore, is part of the North Chennai Development Programme. "The construction work is progressing at a good pace," said Mr. Sekarbabu. He added that students currently in temporary buildings will soon move to new facilities. He also set a deadline for full completion by February 2026. "A timeline has been fixed for these construction works to be fully completed by the end of February 2026. Meetings have been held with the contractors, and instructions have been given to accelerate the pace of work," Mr. Sekarbabu told the press. The CMDA also plans to build 10 libraries as part of the Chief Minister’s Study Centres project. "By February 2026, more than 70% of the work under the Chief Minister’s Study Centre project will be completed," he stated. On the State’s preparedness for the Northeast monsoon rains, Mr. Sekarbabu said, "Chief Minister visited the State Emergency Operations Centre located at Ezhilagam in Chennai and reviewed the precautionary measures to be taken during natural disasters."
