Kerala Official Arrested for Taking Bribe in Land Conversion Case

A special team from the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) arrested Ullasmon, the Olavanna village officer, on Saturday. He was caught taking a bribe to illegal convert 1.62 acres of land for business use. Ullasmon hails from Kothamangalam in Ernakulam. VACB sources said the officer was caught with ₹50,000, which was the first instalment from the landowner. Early investigations revealed that Ullasmon asked for ₹8 lakh for the entire land conversion process.
