The cold wave in Kashmir grew stronger with night temperatures falling sharply across the valley, meteorological officials said on Sunday, November 30, 2025. Open skies at night led to the drop in mercury. A thick layer of fog covered most parts, especially around lakes and rivers. Srinagar's minimum temperature was minus 4.4°C on Saturday night, down from minus 3.1°C the previous night. This was just a notch above the coldest night recorded recently when the temperature sank to minus 4.5°C on Thursday night. Shopian in south Kashmir was the chilliest spot with a low of minus 6.6°C. Qazigund, the gateway to Kashmir, recorded minus 3.0°C, while Kupwara in north Kashmir settled at minus 5.0°C. Kokernag in south Kashmir had a low of minus 1.2°C. Famous tourist spots like Pahalgam and Gulmarg saw temperatures at minus 5.6°C and minus 1.4°C respectively. The meteorological department predicted mainly dry weather will continue in Kashmir till December 10.
