HYDERABAD – On Sunday, BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao expressed deep grief over a huge fire at the Anjaneyaswamy shrine in Kondaguttu, Jagtial district. The fire destroyed about 30 shops, leaving many poor and middle-class families jobless. The shops were leased from the temple and the estimated loss is over ₹1 crore. Rama Rao contacted former MLA S. Ravishanker to learn about the damage. Ravishanker said the shops mainly sold toys and other goods, putting many families' futures at risk. The fire caused major damage partly because the Jagtial fire tender was under repair, delaying timely fire-fighting response. Fire tenders came from Karimnagar after the one sent from Jagtial did not work. Rama Rao demanded the Telangana State government provide compensation to the affected families. He also asked BRS leaders to join relief efforts. He praised Ravishanker for giving ₹5,000 each to families as immediate assistance. The fire accident did not cause any deaths, but the material loss has deeply impacted the livelihoods of many local families.
