The Government Railway Police (Secunderabad) and the Railway Protection Force arrested a 21-year-old repeat drug offender on December 1. The man was caught carrying 4.104 kg of marijuana valued at ₹2.05 lakh. The suspect, Shaik Waheed, a bike mechanic from Shanthi Nagar in Lalapet, Secunderabad, was apprehended during surprise checks on platforms and trains at Secunderabad Railway Station. Waheed had been jailed earlier for marijuana cases linked to Lallaguda and Tukaram Gate police stations. Soon after his release, he resumed selling drugs. Investigators revealed he traveled to Nagpur on November 30, bought the marijuana from an unknown supplier, and returned by train to sell it in small sachets locally. He was stopped near Gate No. 2 on Platform No. 1 at 11 a.m., where officers found two packets of marijuana in his backpack. Waheed admitted, "I had procured the substance for personal consumption and resale." The arrest was made by the Secunderabad GRP team led by B. Saieashwar Goud. They worked alongside RPF personnel under the supervision of Superintendent Chandana Deepti and DSRP S. N. Jawed. Senior officials said this was part of increased operations to curb drug trafficking via railway routes.
