Three Arrested for 15 kg Silver Theft in Bowrampet Jewellery Heist
December 1, 2025
A gang of three men was caught for breaking into Someshwar Jewellers in Bowrampet by tunneling through a shuttered shop next door. Dundigal Police recovered 15 kg of stolen silver and are tracking suspects across two states.
The arrested are Chetan Prakash from Moulali, Sirajuddin from Ajmer district in Rajasthan, and Kalu Kag, also called Kaluram, from Cherlapally. An officer said the trio rented the vacant shutter beside Someshwar Jewellers. At night, they entered the shop using a crowbar to make a hole through the wall and stole about 15 kg of silver.
"Kalu Kag kept around 3.5 kg with him while the rest was taken to Bengaluru and sold," the officer said. The burglary happened between November 7 and 8 and was reported on November 8. Police and CCS staff immediately began tracking the gang.
On November 19, Chetan Prakash and Sirajuddin were arrested in Rajasthan. Kalu Kag was caught on November 26 at Bahadurpally in Dundigal. Police say three more suspects are still on the run.
Recovered items include the full 15 kg silver, the SUV used in the crime, and the crowbar.
Police warned shop and property owners to check tenants carefully. "Negligence in vetting allows criminals to use rented shutters for crime," they said.
