Telangana Tourism Relaunches Eco-Friendly Cruise Between Nagarjunasagar and Srisailam
December 1, 2025
Telangana Tourism has restarted its seasonal catamaran cruise connecting Nagarjunasagar and Srisailam. After a delay caused by extended dam gate openings due to heavy rains, the service began in the last week of November. The cruise runs every Saturday and Sunday, offering a six-hour scenic journey. The boat leaves Nagarjunasagar at 9 a.m. and reaches Srisailam’s drop-off at Eegalapenta around 4 p.m. Passengers can return the next day, starting at 9 a.m. from Eegalapenta and reaching Nagarjunasagar by 4 p.m. Tickets cost ₹2,000 for adults and ₹1,600 for children aged 5-10 for a one-way trip; round trips are ₹3,250 and ₹2,600 respectively. The fare includes tea, refreshments, and a full vegetarian lunch. Passengers are kept engaged with games and a guided commentary that explains important landmarks during the journey, said Telangana Tourism Development Corporation General Manager Manvi. The twin-deck catamaran can hold up to 120 people but limits bookings to 110 to allow room for the staff, which includes drivers, lifeguards, and swimmers for safety. This year, the cruise emphasizes eco-friendly measures with décor made from banana leaves, coconut branches, and jute sutli. Waste management has been improved, ensuring high cleanliness standards. For visitors wishing to visit the Srisailam temple, Telangana Tourism has partnered with private operators providing transport and darshan at an extra cost, not included in the cruise fare.
