AMRUT 2.0 Work Advances with Drone Survey, New Committee for 49 Towns' GIS Master Plans
December 1, 2025
Work under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0 is on track in Kerala. This includes drone surveys to prepare Geographic Information System (GIS) master plans for 49 towns. The state government has reformed the Consultancy Evaluation and Review Committee (CERC) to monitor and review consultants hired for this work.
Previously, during AMRUT 1.0, the work was done in-house and overseen by a Monitoring and Review Committee. This time, since the work is outsourced to consultants, the CERC has been created. The committee is headed by the Mission Director of AMRUT and reports to the State Level Technical Committee led by the Principal Secretary of the Local Self Government department.
The drone surveys and bidding processes are progressing well. Once the Survey of India provides the drone data, requests for proposals will be issued to hire consultants for the GIS-based master plans.
The reformed CERC includes top officials such as the Chief Town Planner, director of LSGD Urban, representatives from the Disaster Management Authority and Director of Survey and Land Records, and the executive director of Information Kerala Mission, among others.
