FIR Filed Against Rameshwaram Café Owners Over Insect Found in Food at Kempegowda Airport
December 2, 2025
Five months after a customer found an insect in his food at Rameshwaram Café in Kempegowda International Airport, a new controversy has started. Nikhil N., a city realtor, filed a complaint leading the airport police to register an FIR against café owners Raghavendra Rao, his wife Divya, and senior executive Sumanth Lakshminarayan. They face charges of selling harmful food, giving false information, criminal conspiracy, and issuing threats.
Nikhil said he found the insect in his pongal on July 24 at the café’s Terminal-1 outlet. Although staff offered to replace the dish, he refused due to his flight. Other customers recorded the incident and took photos.
However, before Nikhil’s complaint, the café's operations head Sumanth accused the customer group of blackmail and extortion, claiming they demanded ₹25 lakh. This counter-complaint was filed at Vyalikaval police station the next day, adding tension to the ongoing issue.
