Karnataka Chairperson Promises No Compromise on Pourakarmikas’ Rights and Facilities
December 2, 2025
In Jayanagar, Karnataka State Safai Karmachari Commission Chairperson P. Raghu addressed pourakarmikas working under Bengaluru South City Corporation. The workers complained about delays in recruitment, lack of basic facilities, unpaid wages, provident fund issues, biometric attendance glitches, and poor access to toilets and restrooms.
Responding firmly, Mr. Raghu declared there would be "no compromise" on their legal rights and facilities. He instructed officials to issue all pending appointment orders within a week. He also demanded that every ward and mustering point have restrooms, toilets, and drinking water.
Mr. Raghu gave a stern warning: hotels denying toilet access to pourakarmikas will face legal action. He further directed maintenance of public toilets in parks and immediate resolution of all salary-related technical problems.
This strong stance is a clear message to protect and improve the working conditions of sanitation workers in Bengaluru.
