December 2, 2025
Ethan Ladner, a 20-year-old from Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, was arrested after posting a scary TikTok video about a school shooting. The FBI spotted the video first and quickly informed the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. The video was soon removed from TikTok.
Police said Ladner admitted to posting the threat. He told officers he wanted attention and to "provoke reactions online." But police warned that no school threat is a joke. They said even small messages can lead to serious trouble including criminal charges and school punishments.
Officials have not released which school Ladner mentioned in the video. They acted swiftly to protect students, saying safety is their top priority. The sheriff’s office stressed they treat all school threats as real until proven otherwise.
Walton County Sheriff said Ladner knew exactly what he was doing. Officers quoted him saying he wanted to "provoke reactions online."
Police said threats cause fear among families, teachers, and students. They also force officers to interrupt their work immediately. This creates stress for the entire community.
The sheriff’s office warned everyone using social media to think before posting. Words can spread fast, and dangerous posts bring police involvement quickly. TikTok took down the video fast, but damage was already done.
The investigation is ongoing, and Ladner faces charges of making electronic threats of a mass shooting. The case will continue in court.
