On December 2, 2025, the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court ordered the Maharashtra State Election Commission (SEC) to delay vote counting for local body polls to December 21. Originally, counting was set for December 3. This order came while voting was taking place for elections in 264 municipal councils and nagar panchayats in Maharashtra. The SEC had recently rescheduled some local body elections to December 20. The High Court also barred the announcement of exit polls until December 20. Senior lawyer Firdous Mirza, representing a petitioner, confirmed to PTI that the court has deferred the vote counting to December 21.
