December 3, 2025
The Hebbagodi police have arrested 39-year-old cloth merchant Srinivasa Murthy H.K. and his friend Arun Kumar B.N., an electrician, for robbing ₹1.14 crore from the apartment of a Bengaluru businessman. The victim, who runs multiple businesses, used to keep large amounts of cash at his home.
The accused knew about the cash and planned the theft. They studied the house for days and broke in on November 9, while the businessman and his family were away in Kolar. To avoid detection, the duo covered their faces with helmets and did not use mobile phones during the crime.
Police examined over 100 CCTV footages and identified one suspect from the recordings. Using local intelligence, they tracked down the accused and recovered the stolen cash. Some money was found in the cloth shop run by Srinivasa Murthy, and the rest at a friend's house.
The accused said they wanted money to expand their business. They expected to steal ₹20 to ₹25 lakh but took over ₹1 crore instead.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh stated he will send a report to the Income Tax department about recovering such a large cash amount from the businessman.
