FIR Against Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil in Second Rape Case, SIT Probe Launched
December 3, 2025
Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil is now under a second rape probe after police registered an FIR on Wednesday night. Authorities formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Dy.SP Sajeevan to investigate the new complaint. The probe will be supervised by Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner Thomson Jose. This follows Mamkootathil’s recent plea for anticipatory bail in a similar case by Nemom police last Thursday, with the court set to hear it again on Thursday.
Police traced the new complaint to a 23-year-old non-resident Keralite woman who sent an email alleging rape, bodily harm, and illegal detention by the MLA. The SIT has requested the complainant to obtain court permission to record her statement before a woman magistrate in private, citing Section 182 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (2023). Cyber forensic experts are also involved to verify communications between the woman and Mamkootathil.
Earlier this week, the woman emailed KPCC president Sunny Joseph claiming Mamkootathil befriended her via social media and raped her at a resort under the guise of marriage discussions. She accused Congress leader Feni Ninan, a UDF candidate and associate of Mamkootathil, of taking her to the resort. Ninan denied these accusations and asked the State Police Chief to investigate the email’s authenticity and timing.
The complainant stated she spoke out after KPCC allegedly ignored past sexual misconduct allegations against Mamkootathil. She urged Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra to prevent Mamkootathil from holding public roles involving women and children, hoping this would empower other survivors. She also noted her details are with the Crime Branch and cited harassment that delayed her justice pursuit.
