Three men were arrested near Arunachaleswarar temple in Tiruvannamalai on Wednesday for selling fake car parking passes. The men were identified as K. Silambarasan, 30, a temple staffer, along with R. Babu, 44, and G. Munusamy, 39. Silambarasan printed fake special passes and sold them to devotees, especially from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, charging ₹200 to ₹500 each. These fake passes closely resembled the free special passes issued by the district administration for senior government officials and elected representatives. The passes allowed parking near the temple inside the town. Police noted that the temporary parking lot is far from the town, making it hard for devotees, especially senior citizens and women, to walk to the temple on Maha Deepam day. Acting on a tip-off, Tiruvannamalai East police searched Yatri Nivas accommodation complex and found the fake passes. A case has been registered, and the suspects were sent to a sub-jail. The investigation is ongoing.
