IndiGo Cancels 68 Flights, Chaos at Hyderabad Airport Continues
December 4, 2025
Chaos continued at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on Thursday, December 4, 2025, as IndiGo cancelled 68 flights. This included 35 arrivals and 33 departures, disrupting travel for thousands for the second day in a row. On Wednesday, 31 flights were cancelled, leading to long queues and confusion. Many passengers reported long delays and lack of clear information on new schedules or alternatives.
IndiGo released a statement on Wednesday evening, saying the cancellations were due to “a multitude of unforeseen operational challenges.” These included minor technology glitches, winter season schedule changes, bad weather, increased air traffic, and new rules for crew working hours. The airline said these problems combined in a way they could not have foreseen.
To fix this, IndiGo said it was adjusting its schedules over 48 hours to reduce delays and improve on-time performance.
Social media videos showed angry passengers and tense moments at the airport. One woman asked why a flight was scheduled if no crew were available, saying travellers with emergencies were suffering. Another video posted by Srikar Kandikonda showed passengers confronting IndiGo staff at a gate. He wrote that IndiGo had been “messing with people since yesterday.” His flight was cancelled an hour before departure, and some had waited over 24 hours while bookings continued.
Passenger Ravi Thakkar said he was stuck in Hyderabad for three days due to repeated cancellations of flight 6E 883. “Rescheduled twice, cancelled every time. Now asked to stay one more day. Who covers my stay, transport and work loss?” he wrote.
Another passenger, Aditya Bhargava, said his Hyderabad to Madurai flight 6E 6467 was cancelled at 3:15 a.m. on December 4, despite a 6:45 a.m. departure time. He also said he could not access IndiGo’s Plan B option.
The disruption at Hyderabad airport on December 4 shows no quick end in sight for stranded passengers.
