Kashmir faced severe cold as minimum temperatures fell below freezing on December 3, 2025. Srinagar's night temperature dropped to -4°C, slightly warmer than the previous -4.4°C, officials said. A heavy fog covered Srinagar and surrounding areas, especially near water bodies. Pulwama town was the coldest spot at -5.6°C. Qazigund recorded -3.6°C, Kupwara -3°C, and Kokernag -0.8°C. Popular resorts also saw freezing lows: Pahalgam at -4.8°C and Gulmarg at -1°C. The meteorological department warned of a short spell of light snow in higher reaches late Thursday night and early Friday morning. The weather will stay mostly dry on December 6-7, with another chance of light snow at isolated high-altitude areas on December 8.
