The Odisha Government has terminated the empanelment of Silicon Tech Lab Pvt Ltd. The Bhubaneswar-based IT firm was involved in a scam during the sub-inspector recruitment process. The Electronics and IT Department ended the company's Tier-1 empanelment for "violation of multiple material clauses of its service agreement," said an official notification. The Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) had outsourced the Combined Police Service Examination (CPSE) 2024 to PSU ITI Ltd, which subcontracted Silicon Tech Lab. Silicon Tech Lab then assigned key tasks to Panchsoft Technologies. The scam surfaced after police caught 114 aspirants and three brokers on September 29. They were heading from Bhubaneswar to a special coaching centre in Vijayanagaram, Andhra Pradesh. Police said each aspirant paid ₹10 lakh to the racket and was to pay another ₹25 lakh after securing the job. Later, the Crime Branch arrested more brokers and the scam's mastermind. Silicon Tech Lab's promoter, Suresh Nayak, was also arrested. On November 12, the case was given to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for further probe.
