Google has released its 'India’s Year in Search 2025: The A to Z of Trending Searches' report. The report shows what Indians Googled the most this year. IPL 2025 was the clear winner, topping both the overall searches and sports events lists. People also showed strong interest in artificial intelligence, searching for Google’s AI tools Gemini and Nano Banana Pro. The term Grok popped up as a top AI search. Bollywood stars and IPL moments filled many queries. The top "What Is" question was "What is Waqf Bill," says Google.
After the Pahalgam attack, searches for 'Operation Sindoor' surged as many followed the army’s response closely. According to Google’s blog, “We witnessed deep curiosity for the AI world; Google Gemini soared to become the #2 top trending search, while people embraced Nano Banana trends.” National stars like Jemimah Rodrigues and Vaibhav Suryavanshi made headlines as well. Users explored big events such as the Maha Kumbh and used Google for practical info like “Earthquake near me” and “Air Quality near me.”
Fun searches included getting holiday ideas for places like Phu Quoc, checking out viral trends like Labubu and the #67 meme, and remembering legends like Dharmendra. Google summed it up as a vibrant mix reflecting India’s lively interests in 2025.
