Part of Government School Wall Collapses in Chengalpattu Amid Heavy Rains
December 4, 2025
On December 3, 2025, a large part of the compound wall of a government higher secondary school in Anjur village, Chengalpattu district, collapsed due to heavy rains. The school is inside the Mahindra City township and has been running for over 50 years, with about 300 students from nearby villages. When students arrived on the morning of December 4, the fallen wall caused panic among them and their parents. Social activist D. Jaikumar said residents had asked the Chengalpattu district administration for years to repair the dilapidated wall, which was made without proper foundation and had developed cracks. Despite these warnings, no action was taken to fix the wall. A senior police official confirmed the incident and its impact on the school community.
