Investigation Launched Into One-Year-Old's Death Due to Jaundice

June 30, 2025

The police in Pang near Kottakkal have initiated an investigation into the death of a one-year-old child believed to have succumbed to jaundice. The child was buried under suspicious circumstances, leading to speculations and uncertainties. Allegations surfaced against the child's parents, Nawas and Hira, accusing them of refusing vaccination and medical treatment for the child. The parents, known for endorsing acupuncture therapy, were reportedly against vaccination and actively campaigned against it through various platforms. Authorities from the police and health department revealed that the child had shown signs of jaundice a month prior but had not received any medical attention. His condition deteriorated further as he developed a fever four days before his passing. The parents stated that the child experienced a seizure while asleep after consuming milk on a Friday afternoon, resulting in his tragic demise. Subsequently, a post-mortem will be carried out to determine the actual cause of death. While the parents asserted that an allopathic doctor confirmed the child's death, health officials denied having any knowledge of such certification. The incident has raised significant concerns and prompted a case registration at the Kadampuzha police station.
