Telangana Government is planning an affordable housing policy to build and sell houses below market prices to middle class families. Around 10,000 homes will be built at each of four locations near the Outer Ring Road, totaling 40,000 houses. "The Government is planning to take up the policy on a no-profit basis in the interests of middle class people," said Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on December 5, 2025. For poorer sections, a new policy is being developed to provide G+4 model houses without relocating residents. This will be part of a new Indiramma Urban Housing Policy to be announced soon. The Minister noted that old houses given by previous Congress governments at Kukatpally Housing Board are worsening. The plan includes replacing them with high-rise apartments. The government is also completing unfinished two-bedroom houses started by the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Government, investing ₹700 crore along with ₹200 crore to add amenities. Steps are in place to reclaim leased and encroached lands covering 1,000 acres, with compound walls already built. The Housing Board, scrapped by the past government, was restored by the Congress Government to aid poorer groups. Staff and resources have been allocated to complete ongoing projects in a planned way. About four lakh houses have been approved under the Indiramma Indlu scheme, with three lakh under construction. The government plans to finish one lakh houses by March next year and the remaining two lakh by June.
